It's Partner Winery Wednesday! Each week, we'll be highlighting a different Michigan By The Bottle Tasting Room partner winery. Today's is Chateau de Leelanau, located on Leelanau Peninsula, just outside of Traverse City.
There are now more than 25 (!!!) wineries on Leelanau Peninsula, so it's a fantastic place to visit when you have a weekend (or more) to really make the most of your trip.
Here's a bit about Chateau de Leelanau, direct from them:
Positioned at the entrance to Leelanau County’s wine country, we invite you to begin your tour at the Chateau de Leelanau tasting room. With generations of farming history, we bring our love for Northern Michigan into every aspect of Chateau de Leelanau. New wines and ciders are made from fruit grown in our family’s vineyards and orchards to ensure a true taste of Leelanau County in every sip.
From the tilling of the fields to the pouring of the wine we focus every effort on creating exceptional wines and ciders for all to enjoy. With a selection of both reds and whites made from our many varieties of grapes and apples there is sure to be something for everyone.
As next generation fruit growers in Leelanau County we have deep roots in this beautiful area. From the rolling farmlands to the shores of Lake Michigan, our family has spent the years working the land. This new venture in the growing Northern Michigan wine industry is an exciting adventure and we look forward to serving you a variety of exceptional wines and ciders.
At MBTB Tasting Room, we typically carry five to eight wines from our partner wineries at any given time. Chateau de Leelanau wines currently on our tasting menu (as of Nov. 26, 2014) are:
- Cabernet Franc
- Cabernet Franc Rosé
- Pinot Noir
- Schaub Farm White
